Live transcription

You can now record and transcribe audio live in Dovetail.

Inside a project, on the Data tab, click Create (+), then Take notes, then the microphone button to start live transcription as you speak, with multiple speaker recognition built-in.

As the transcript appears, you can highlight, comment, tag, and redact in real time. When you stop recording, the audio file is uploaded and attached to the transcript.

Live transcription is designed for in-person interviews, field research, dictation, and note-taking. The mic captures one audio source—your microphone—so it won’t pick up the other participants in Zoom, Meet, or Teams calls. We are working on ways to live record online meetings, too.

This feature also works on mobile.
