Coding is moving at lightspeed, but product and design isn’t keeping up.
I’m super excited to announce Dovetail’s new partnership with Alloy.
We’ve launched the first solution that turns customer feedback and continuous discovery into live, interactive, and authentic AI prototypes.
Building features, fixing bugs, and writing code is faster than ever, yet understanding customers, creating a plan, and doing design work is still stuck in the past. When development capacity scales as quickly as you can spend tokens, and non-technical roles like product managers and designers can prototype in minutes, the traditional software development lifecycle (SDLC) tooling—wikis, issue tracking, design software—becomes redundant.
Watch the launch announcement and demo:
Teams manually distribute customer feedback and insights into requirements docs, backlogs, internal wikis, and slide decks. After weeks of meetings, pages of documents, and begging for buy-in—finally—you’re allowed the right to resourcing to get your solution across the line.
If you’re lucky, in a few weeks, you’ll have a static design mockup you can share with a customer or your team for feedback. Then the slog starts again. It’s a slow, painful, and linear waterfall process.
Dovetail and Alloy are changing the way we build products. Prototypes can now come straight from the source—your customer feedback—and capture the authentic look and feel of your product.
Here’s how it works: Dovetail provides the customer intelligence backbone for your organization, containing support tickets, app reviews, sales calls, customer interviews, surveys, and more. Alloy delivers true-to-life AI prototypes based on real snapshots of your real product.
Together, we’re launching the first solution for product teams to go straight from customer feedback to AI prototypes in minutes.
Let’s have a look at the new product development lifecycle:
Dovetail agents automatically surface bugs, churn risks, and new revenue opportunities based on real customer evidence drawn from across every tool and team in your organization.
Feedback is automatically turned into authentic AI prototypes—no complex design software or technical skill required.
You refine your prototypes to perfection and tweak around the edges through a simple chat interface inside Alloy.
Now you’ve got a functional, interactive, on-brand prototype ready to bring straight into sprint planning or a customer interview.
What used to take weeks of meetings and documentation now happens in the background, without you lifting a finger.
IDEO founders Tom and David Kelley once said that “If a picture is worth a thousand words, a prototype is worth a thousand meetings”. Today, Dovetail and Alloy are bringing that maxim to life.
Our Alloy integration is now available in beta to all customers. Right now, here’s how it works:
Drill into context with chat. Use contextual chat to zoom in on any object in Dovetail—a dashboard, a channel of bug reports, a research project full of interviews and surveys, even your entire workspace. Ask plain-language questions, refine the view, and surface the exact customer problem worth solving.
Spin up prototypes instantly. From that same chat, you can now generate a live Alloy prototype based on the insights you’ve uncovered. Instead of translating findings into tickets and hoping they’re picked up later, ideas materialize immediately in a design environment.
Keep momentum alive. Prototypes don’t sit in a backlog—they ’re ready for product managers, designers, and engineers to review, iterate, and push forward. Customer signals don’t just inform decisions; they take form as solutions.

This is just the first step towards a future that we’re calling ‘feedback to code’, and we plan to add more integrations with AI coding tools like Cursor Background Agents and Claude Code.
The future is customer-led product development straight from feedback to code, cutting bureaucracy, paperwork, backlogs, and handoffs, accelerating delivery while keeping customers at the heart of product development.
