Centralize your project data

You can centralize related sets of data-rich sources like customer interviews, usability tests, sales calls, or past research papers to store and analyze your project. In this lesson, you will learn what you can import into projects, what to expect after import and how you can bring data into your project automatically.

How import works

You can import recordings (audio and video) as well as documents like PDFs, presentations, and Word docs into a project.

When importing files into a project, each file will be stored as a standalone object within your project. For example, if you are importing multiple customer interview recordings, each recording will be stored as there own object so they can be summarized, transcribed, and analyzed individually.

  • To import data into your project, click on Import, select your import method, and choose your files to import.

If you use Google Drive, Zoom, or OneDrive in your current tool stack, we recommend selecting one of these tools to connect your account to Dovetail and start streamlining how you bring data into projects.

Automate how data imports into your project

If you are a researcher or designer, it’s common to have a lot of back-to-back calls when working on a project. And because of this, it’s likely you’re so busy that you don’t have time to manually import these and quickly make sense of important patterns to make decisions at the speed your business requires.

To ensure call recordings are brought into Dovetail, we recommend syncing your Google or Outlook calendar to Dovetail automatically import recordings from Zoom. Once imported, your meetings will be automatically transcribed and summarized for you, so you don’t have to do a thing.

  • To get started, navigate to Settings → Integrations and select Google Calendar or Outlook Calendar.

  • From there, set up this integration to select calendar events to import recordings from alongside our Zoom integration. Both integrations need to be set up to successfully automate import.

🎓 Homework
