Dovetail are looking for a Analytics Manager to join our team and help us achieve our ambitious goals. You’ll work closely with the team of analysts and data engineers to leverage data by uncovering impactful opportunities for our customers and business.

What you’ll do

  • Lead and oversee all strategy and execution of analytics. This includes product analytics, our marketing funnel, business intelligence and strategic projects. Ensure alignment to organizational goals and objectives. This new role is created to elevate the role of analytics across the entire business, focused on delivery of high impact projects, improvements to our ways of working, and enabling effective self-service.

  • Own our data warehouse and analytics lifecycle. You’ll work with our infrastructure team to develop and maintain our data warehouse, and work with the product and go-to-market teams to ensure the consistent, quality, and reliable implementation of our analytics end-to-end data lifecycle. You’ll work to automate and optimize data loading and transformation of data from different teams across the business into a format that is accessible and valuable for everyone. You’ll help to set the direction of our infrastructure and tooling, including roadmaps and immediate priorities.

  • Grow and develop the team. This is a newly formed team, bringing together data specialists from across the company to unite on a single mission. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the team’s performance by provide coaching, mentoring, feedback, and career development, as well as ensuring that expectations and roles are clearly defined. You’ll facilitate the technical development support needed for individuals to help them shine.

  • Promote data understanding across Dovetail. You’ll establish close relationships with other teams to truly democratize data understanding and access. You’ll educate teams on how to self-service data, ask the right questions, and how to leverage data to inform decisions and opportunities in their teams.

  • Establish standards, dashboards and reports. You’ll collaborate with other teams across Dovetail to develop definitions, queries, build reports and dashboards to visualize analysis and insights.

Your background

  • Demonstrated analytical experience. You have extensive analytical experience with specialization in one or more of the following business subject areas: marketing, finance, sales, product, customer success, customer support, or engineering. You have experience working across complex and diverse data sources across the business.

  • Business minded. You have a critical understanding of the impact that analytics can have on business performance, with a track record of success and learnings. Experience in a high growth SaaS startup is desirable.

  • Pragmatic problem solver and self-starter. You're able to zoom out and prioritize expertly. You’ll need to be comfortable with ambiguity, be resourceful to solve problems and be able to adjust to shifting deadlines and project goals. You'll understand that 'firefighting' is a reality of startups and not every problem is immediately solvable. Equally, you’ll prioritise strategic work to effectively scale our tools, systems and processes as the company grows and matures.

  • An outstanding communicator. You’ll be comfortable presenting complex analysis to a wide audience in a clear and concise manner, including the leadership team. You’re excellent at collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders and gaining buy-in on projects, insights and outcomes.

  • Experience with modern data warehouses & SQL. You have experience with end-to-end data architecture. You’re comfortable guiding Dovetail on evolving and maintaining modern data warehouses and reliable data pipelines to support business needs, ideally within a SaaS or startup context.

  • Competency with SQL. You’re fluent in SQL within analytical data warehouse solutions and in business intelligence and visualization tools. You must be able to write complex SQL as well as have reasonable working proficiency in languages such as Python and Typescript as required.

  • Background in mathematics or statistics. A solid foundational grounding in these areas, and/or a bachelor’s degree with a business or STEM focus is a plus.

  • A great people manager. You’ll have experience in leading and mentoring a team.
