Putting the customer first is at our core. We want every interaction with Dovetail to you closer to your customer—fast.
In April, we hosted Insight Out, our first-ever conference for customer-obsessed product people. We introduced end-to-end automation with fast, new magic features purpose-built for uncovering customer insights. We launched magic highlight, magic redact, magic search, and more.
You told us these features enhance your workflow, while keeping you firmly in control. You shared how speeding up the customer understanding process unlocks insights for designers, product managers, and sales—not just researchers. You also had ideas for how we can improve it.
We listened. Today, thanks to your feedback, I’m excited to announce major upgrades to magic search and magic redact, along with a raft of other improvements.
Buried across customer calls, reports, and feedback across your organization are the insights you need to unlock your next decision. But finding those answers is challenging—you’ve got to know who to ask or where to find them.
That’s where magic search comes in. Search all your customer data to find quick answers. Magic search surfaces highlights, documents, presentations, and insights, then summarizes the results ready to share.
So give it go—search to find out what features customers love, their biggest pain points, and opportunities to meet their needs.
With our new quick search, we’ve made it easier for you to find what you’re looking for. Simply click on the search bar to find projects, folders, insights, and notes with matching titles wherever they are in your workspace.
We’ve also added the search and summary endpoint to the Dovetail API so your whole team can search and discover insights in the tools they’re already using. Use it to query Dovetail in Slack and other tools you love.
Downloading, cutting, and blurring video interviews or sales calls to protect customer privacy is time-consuming. That’s all before you get it into the hands of your leadership team, engineers, or designers to take action.
We’ve got a better way. Magic redact allows you to blur and mute sections of video in seconds—in the same place where you store and analyze your data. Now, you can undo transcript redactions and recover the hidden data. Soon, we’ll suggest emails, names, and phone numbers to redact, helping you even more when it comes to data privacy.
No more manual uploading, downloading, or begging juniors for help. Magic redact makes protecting your customers’ data easy, and it’s available for all Enterprise customers today.
End-to-end automation is now possible with just one click. Our new magic options toolbar let’s you uncover insights even faster. Drag interviews, docs, and feedback into a Dovetail project and automatically transcribe, summarize, and highlight customer customer data. In the future, we’re looking to add auto tags and reels.
When you import interviews, sales calls, and usability tests, Dovetail auto-detects from 40 transcription languages. Now, you can set the transcription language at a workspace or project level so you no longer need to specify the language you’re after.
We’ve improved the quality and speed of magic highlights to further speed up analysis. Plus, released editor improvements to notes, including block and hover actions, new shortcuts, a new tool toolbar, and edit mode.
Now you can stay across updates from people in your team with user profiles. See what insights, notes, and projects users in your workspace have contributed to, and follow for updates.
Last but not least, I’m excited to give you a sneak peak at what’s coming up. We know it can be difficult for new users to find what they’re looking for in Dovetail. To make it easier for everyone to discover insights, we’re simplifying navigation. Reach out to our team if you’d like to join the beta.
Now, you can find, share, and act on insights faster than ever. Visit dovetail.com and try it for yourself.
